Key West Daycare
centers are all over the place. Some are great child care centers
or preschools and others are not-so-great babysitters that don't
even accept infants. As far as I know, only two currently offer
infant care and only one of them has implemented the Level 4 educational
program. Level 4 was a state program to help educate the kids
to a higher level before kindergarten but state funding was stopped
this year.
Lighthouse Christian
Academy is one Key West daycare that has decided to continue
the Level 4 standard even though funding was stopped and they
have to maintain lower ratios of children to teachers, which costs
them staffing monies as well. I would think that everyone benefits
from this higher standard they have chosen to follow. After all,
the teachers for the infant class share with the preschool teachers
all the time so it must "rub off", if nothing else the attitude
will spread.
Actually, "Key West daycare" isn't even an adequate term for
LCA. They are Key West child care providers and educators with
a heart for the children and an eye on excellence that sets them
apart from the rest. From infant to preschool age, LCA will give
your child the best opportunity and care I believe you will find
anywhere in Key West or elsewhere.
